In this Driver Spotlight, we introduce you to Kenny, an Orlando-based driver who's all about building professional relationships and delivering great customer service. Read on to learn why he switched careers and made driving with Dispatch his full-time gig!

How did you hear about Dispatch?

I was browsing Indeed after being frustrated with my management job one day and stumbled upon a delivery ad. I was already a part-time Uber/Lyft/Amazon Flex driver, so when I read that this was a new company in the Orlando market, I gave it a shot. I was a bit hesitant at first, but it turned out to be a great lead!

How long have you been driving with Dispatch?

I started just a few weeks after they launched in Orlando, late July/early August 2018.

What kind of vehicle do you drive?

I originally started out with a Chevy Equinox (mid sized) and after a lot of research and contemplation, I made the jump to my current vehicle, a 2014 Ram ProMaster 1500 (which is the same type of Cargo Van Dispatch currently uses for their fleet).

Why did you decide that Dispatch was the best job fit for you and your lifestyle?

I've always wanted to be my own boss and set my own schedule. After being in management for over five years, I was tired of being a "babysitter" or worrying about whether or not my staff was coming into work. When I saw how successful I was becoming driving with Dispatch part-time, I said goodbye to my old job and put all my marbles into one basket! I can truly set my hours, take time off as I please, and not have to worry about anyone else but myself.

Tell us your favorite Dispatch story!

I'm not sure that I have a specific story, but one of my favorite things about Dispatch is the relationships I've built with all of the different businesses and store managers in the Orlando market. I know just about every Sherwin-Williams manager and they consider me a part of their team.

Why should other people drive with Dispatch?

If you're self-motivated, a great people person, independent, and reliable as I am, this is a great opportunity! Dispatch gives you the opportunity to make as little or as much money as you want, set your own hours, and just be your own boss.

What’s your favorite thing about being able to set your own hours?

What's NOT to like about setting your hours!? You have the freedom to work when you want! If you want weekends off, take off! If you want a Monday off, take it off! If you want extra hours/days, work the extra time! There is literally nothing stopping you if you have the drive and motivation. If you're wanting to balance work and family/personal life, Dispatch gives you the freedom to do it!

If you could give any advice to other drivers at Dispatch, what would it be?

One of the biggest pieces of advice I've given to other drivers in my market is, make those relationships with the locations near where you live. The more you get to know those employees, the more jobs they'll give you! Which in turn keeps you close to home, so when you want to finish for the day, you're not that far away and you can avoid traffic.

Tell us anything else you'd like to know!

Dispatch isn't just a "pick up a job and do it" type of gig. It's a "build relationships and offer great customer service" kind of gig. You can truly make this a full-time job with great income potential!
